❥ Folkmore Roles & Attributes
Skills: Martial arts, running, parkour and anything dexterous, investigation, reading & writing, lying, and being a nuisance in a way that matters.
Canon Abilities: Beauregard is a Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition 16th level monk, with a character sheet visible with all her abilities here. Let me know if this does not go into enough detail about any of these abilities and I am happy to expand on them. You can also find a rundown of her specific class setup (Monk, Way of the Cobalt Soul) at this link.
Role: Legend.
Role Qualities/Attributes: She's going to shed feathers until she actually accepts her role, at which point she will end up with a type of halo and should be able to control the feathers a lot more. She will also get the eye color changing with her emotions, though it will take her a while to realize this.
Role Reasoning: Much of Beau's personal development has been the realization that despite having done bad things in her past, she is not inherently a bad person. While she can often be brash or rude, she is dogged in her pursuit of truth, helping the innocent, and finding justice for those wronged. Because of this, giving her Legend is almost a reward for these good choices and the better version of herself, even if she doesn't always see that as truth. Her movement towards Legend is tied intrinsically to her healing as a person and casting off old trauma, and really round out her development to become her best self.
❥ Personality
Option 1. Summarize your character's personality in general and what their full potential would look like to them and what they would be willing to go through to meet that potential and what gaining that potential would mean to them. 400-800 word requirement.
The first thing you need to know about Beau is that she submits to no one unless they've earned her respect. At the beginning of the campaign, Beauregard identifies primarily as a rebel; she tells an NPC that she got her name because her parents wanted a son, and she's been fighting back against that legacy ever since. While she never quite grows out of her dislike of any authority, her rebellious nature evolves from self-defense of her own usefulness to fighting things she thinks are unjust. Beau has been the low person that no one cared about, and she wants to make sure the people she holds close- or even any innocent, good person- doesn't have to feel that way again. Even when she speaks to the King of the Empire, she openly curses and tells her opinion of his advisors and which ones she hates the most. Ultimately, she will break anything she finds does not suit her structures of justice, or is hurting those who she cares about.
In tandem with the above, Beau is the kind of person who never lets something lie, even when she really, really should, and has only recently developed any patience in getting what she needs or wants. She finds enjoyment in picking apart inconsistencies when people try to lie, and refuses to read the room for when a situation is appropriate. She is incredibly determined to get where she needs to be, and giving up is simply never an option for her goals or anyone else's.
Despite her rough and tumble nature, Beau is incredibly intelligent, and over the campaign has learned how to make powerful allies and get what she (and the party) needs. Ironically, she's better at deception than persuasion, but has been learning that if she is honest she is often successful. She once convinces a powerful wizard to form an alliance with them, saying: "We all know corruption runs rampant in both the Empire and the Clovis Concord. I don't want anything to do with that...I just want the truth." Over time she's learned how to pull her punches just enough to be tactical- she sees and knows the value in allies and information. She also takes very, very detailed notes and has shown to recall even slight details with ease if she's read or heard them before.
The last major thing to talk about in Beau's personality is her fierce loyalty- once you're on Beau's side you're on her side and it'll take a hell of a thing to remove you. Beau's childhood was incredibly isolating, and for a long time she struggled to relate to people, make friends, or allow herself to be vulnerable for fear of rejection. When she did finally open up to the party after they saved her life and showed they cared, she became incredibly attached, and has sworn to help them with anything they need. At one point, the group finds a witch who had cursed one of their party members, and demanded something of them to lift it. Beau was fully ready to allow the witch to take her friends and family away from her because their happiness was more paramount, and she was certain her life wasn't 'meant' to be this good. When the rest of the party found out, they were actually angry with her, and she found herself a bit lost because these people were actually willing to go the extra mile to keep her around. Once you have earned her respect and care, she will fight for you come hell or high water.
All of that said, her ideal self is ultimately the culmination of the progress she has made over her journey in canon. At the beginning, Beau was disinterested in everything, wanting only to cause chaos and break structure to prove herself worthy or valuable. This has synthesized into realizing she can take down those that have hurt her and other innocents, dispensing justice with her fists like a badmouthed Batman. While she knows internally this is good for her, she still cannot yet shake the idea that she has to be conniving and powerful to be respected or not to be thrown aside, and it often goes against what is good for her. She won't seek out her ideal self willingly, but more in the slow realization she is loved; and finding that peace, finally, would be everything to her. While her progression in finding the party and saving the world has set her on the right path, she needs to continue and expand the people she trusts to find her happy ending- and she'll fight for that any day.
