For my quick reference and yours: all of what Beau can do and what she has! At Lifeaftr, she is currently played at Level 7, and her class is a Monk of the Cobalt Soul; her character sheet can be found here and a breakdown of her monk specialty is here.
Abilities:
While Beau doesn't have magic, Monks do have access to things called ki points that allow them to add special feats. Ki points work like a bonus action, but can have as many stacked on one turn as they have to spend. I'll lay out these abilities below. Monks get as many ki points as their level per short rest, so Beau has 5 that she can regain with an hour of rest at any time. In Lifeaftr, Beau currently has 10 ki points per day. Her current ki abilities are:
In addition, she gains a few bonuses against being a regular joe from her class:
And finally, she has the Sentinel feat, meaning:
She also speaks at least 3 languages, as shown on her character sheet (Common, Halfling, Deep Speech, and has been shown to translate/read sentences in Elvish though may not be fluent) and is proficient in simple weapons, shortswords, and thieves tools (meaning she can pick locks if she has a kit; she's not coming into game with one).

- Flurry Of Blows: Immediately after Beau takes the Attack action, she can spend 1 ki point to make two unarmed strikes as a bonus action.
- Patient Defense: She can spend 1 ki point to take the Dodge action as a bonus action on her turn.
- Step of the Wind: Beau can spend 1 ki point to take the Disengage or Dash action as a bonus action on her turn, and her jump distance is doubled for the turn (6 seconds).
- Deflect Missiles: She can use her reaction to deflect or catch the missile when she's hit by a ranged weapon attack. When she do so, the damage Beau takes from the attack is reduced by 1d10 + her Dexterity modifier (4) + her monk level (5); this essentially translates to most minor ranged attacks, like shortbows. If the damage is reduced to 0, Beau can catch the missile if it is small enough for her to hold in one hand and she has at least one hand free. If she catches a missile in this way, she can spend 1 ki point to make a ranged attack with the weapon or piece of ammunition she just caught, as part of the same reaction. This essentially means that if someone shoots an arrow at her, she can catch it in midair and use a ki point to throw it back as a reaction attack.
- Stunning Strike: Beau can interfere with the flow of ki in an opponent’s body. When she hits another creature with a melee weapon attack, she can spend 1 ki point to attempt a stunning strike. The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of her next turn (Anywhere from 15-30 seconds).
- Extract Aspects: Beau can strike known pressure points to gather information about someone she’s fighting; if she hits someone with her previously known Flurry of Blows ki ability, she can learn one characteristic, like weaknesses, saving throws, resistances, ect. In practical terms, she can use her hits to find technical information about the thing she’s fighting.
- Extort Truth: If Beau can hit something twice or more in a single round, she can spend a ki point to force a Charisma saving throw and choose if the hits do damage. She knows if they succeed or fail, and if they fail, and if they fail, they’re unable to speak a deliberate lie for one minute. The creature is aware of the effect, and can choose to avoid answering questions or be evasive, but cannot knowingly lie during this time.
- Mind of Mercury: Beau can spend a ki point to take extra reactions per turn, at a cost of one point per reaction and one reaction per trigger. Aka, if she uses her reaction to hit someone as they move out of range, and then someone fires an arrow at her, she can use a ki point to get the reaction to use that ki ability. This would cost 2 ki points- one for the reaction, and one for the actual ki skill.
- The Gift Of Knowledge: Beau is extra adept at finding information and researching a topic; technically speaking, she can now spend a ki point to get advantage on Investigation checks, but in more plain terms she can use a point to hone in and distill important information from documents and books.
In addition, she gains a few bonuses against being a regular joe from her class:
- Punch... girl?: Beau has trained with monks for years to be able to hit things real good, and real hard. When she's only got her staff with no armor and no shield, her unarmed punches do 1d6 damage. (For reference, a non-monk's punch is 1+STR mod, so usually no more than 2 or 3 points of damage). In addition, when she attacks with a weapon, she can make an unarmed strike as a bonus action. So she can whack something with a staff and then one-two punch it in about six seconds. Her hand to hand attacks also count as magical for the purposes of overcoming resistances to nonmagical attacks.
- Gotta Go Fast: Beau gets an extra 15 feet of movement vs the average (30 ft every 6 seconds). This is on her sheet as her standard speed.
- Soar Like A Butterfly: Beau can use her reaction when she falls to reduce any falling damage by an amount equal to five times her monk level (so up to 35 HP). In 5e, a creature takes 1d6 fall damage for every 10 feet; this essentially means she can drop 50-65 feet without incident or damage.
- Sting Like A Bee: Beau gets 2 attacks per turn. Yes, this means in one turn she can do 2 attacks, make two unarmed bonus strikes, and spend 2 ki points to hit them a total of twice with a weapon and six times with her fists in six seconds. She's Very Fast.
- Can't Catch Me: Beau’s evasion abilities have increased; in D&D technical terms, if she’s attacked with something that requires a dex save, she takes no damage on a success and only half on a fail, down from half on a success and full on a fail. What this means in more plaintext is she’s twice as good at dodging now.
- Stillness of Mind: Beau has actually learned to meditate, which is incredible. She can now enter a meditative state if she’s charmed or frightened to clear herself of that with one action (about 6 seconds).
And finally, she has the Sentinel feat, meaning:
- When Beau hits a creature with an opportunity attack, the creature’s speed becomes 0 for the rest of the turn. How this translates is that if someone tries to get past her and she gets an attack of opportunity (an attack given when an enemy gets in proximity) and she hits, they have to stop moving immediately.
- Creatures within 5 feet of her provoke opportunity attacks from her even if they take the Disengage action before leaving her reach. So if they're within 5 feet, they have to fight her, even if they're trying to leave with a feat or ability.
- When a creature within 5 feet of Beau makes an attack against a target other than her (and that target doesn’t have this feat), she can use her reaction to make a melee weapon attack against the attacking creature. So if a creature attacks a nearby ally, she can use her reaction to smack that thing.
